Mitsui Ocean Cruises, a subsidiary of Japanese shipping company Mitsui OSK Lines, has formally named the second cruise ship it had acquired from US operator Seabourn.
The 34,138GT, 458-guest Seabourn Sojourn was purchased by Mitsui Ocean Cruises in early 2025.
Following the sale, Seabourn chartered the ship back from Mitsui Ocean Cruises and continued to operate all published voyages through the completion of her world cruise in May of this year.
The ship, now renamed Mitsui Ocean Sakura, is also the second vessel to join the Mitsui Ocean Cruises fleet.
The first ship overall, as well as the first to be acquired from Seabourn, is Seabourn Odyssey, which now sails as Mitsui Ocean Fuji.
The earlier vessel entered operational service with Mitsui Ocean Cruises in December 2024. In addition to sailing cruises to and from Yokohama, Mitsui Ocean Fuji also offers cruises to and from Kobe and Nagoya, and cruise to and from Beppu, Shimonoseki, Shingu, Kochi, Nagoya, Sakaide, Kobe, Matsuyama, Hakata, Kagoshima, Nagasaki, Hiroshima, and other seaside destinations in Japan.
Mitsui Ocean Sakura's own debut cruise under her new owner is scheduled to depart from Yokohama on Saturday, September 19.
