China’s Adora Cruises took delivery of the cruise ship Adora Flora City at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding’s facilities on Friday, November 6.
The 141,900GT vessel is China's second domestically built large cruise ship, following Adora Magic City, which began commercial service from Shanghai in January 2024.
Adora Flora City will move to Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Port on Saturday, November 7, for trial operation voyages before arriving at Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Home Port on November 12.
Her maiden commercial voyage, a six-day, five-night sailing to Hong Kong and Chan May in Vietnam, will depart Guangzhou on November 22.
The inaugural season comprises six international voyages up to January 2, 2027, including a 17-day itinerary calling in Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam.
The ship has a length of 341 metres, a beam of 37.2 metres, 2,130 cabins and suites, and a maximum capacity of 5,232 passengers. She is 17.4 metres longer and 6,400 GT larger than her predecessor, but Adora Cruises said the additional space was allocated mainly to public areas rather than extra cabins.
Onboard facilities include 28 restaurants and bars, an 800-seat theatre, and a 200-metre running track. Two additional exhaust gas desulphurisation towers and a selective catalytic reduction system are also fitted.
Construction began on August 8, 2022, and sea trials commenced in May. The build took eight months less than the first ship's, and delivery was brought forward by nearly two months from the original schedule.
