LD Armateurs (LDA) recently welcomed the DP2 work vessel TVO Mariner to its fleet to expand the company’s subsea cable installation and offshore wind support operations.
Built in 2011, the 88.3-metre vessel will be operated for LD TravOcean, LDA’s subsea cable installation and protection subsidiary. It will support cable installation and repair, trenching, remotely operated vehicle (ROV) work and offshore wind projects.
TVO Mariner will operate under the French International Register with LDA crews. The parent company will provide technical management and operate the vessel, while LD TravOcean personnel will conduct the subsea work.
Built to Norwegian design standards, the vessel offers 950 square metres of deck space and an approximate payload capacity of 2,500 tonnes. Its deck is fitted with removable rails while accommodation is available for up to 70 people.
LD TravOcean plans to deploy the ship with equipment including trenching machines and deepwater ROVs.
LDA said the vessel’s hull and propulsion systems were designed to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. Noise- and vibration-reduction systems have also been installed for onboard comfort.
LD TravOcean announced the acquisition in April, when the vessel was still named Siddis Mariner and delivery was planned for the summer.
The company said its teams had previously worked aboard the ship during an offshore wind project in Germany.
