Dong Fang Offshore construction support vessel to be fitted with additional W2W systems

Published on:

Norway's Ulstein Design and Solutions has been awarded a contract for conversion works on Orient Adventurer, a construction support vessel belonging to Taiwan's Dong Fang Offshore.

The extensive conversion will entail relocating the tower equipment into new rooms on the main deck, and the A and B decks. The vessel will also be equipped with a foundation for a walk-to-work gangway system and a 3,000-tonne cable carousel from Huisman.

Completion of the conversion will be in 2025 for the vessel to be ready for operational work in 2026 under a charter with Norwegian ocean services provider DeepOcean.

Orient Adventurer will work primarily in Europe within the offshore energy industry but is also planned to support operations in other parts of the world. The vessel’s duties will include wind farm operations and maintenance, construction/installation, decommissioning, and inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR).

The firm period will commence in early 2026 and will end in late 2027. Options are also available to extend the charter by up to four years.
