Dong Fang Offshore construction support vessel to operate under charter with DeepOcean

Published on

Dong Fang Offshore (DFO), a subsidiary of Taiwan's Hung Hua Construction, has been awarded a contract by Norwegian ocean services provider DeepOcean for the charter of the construction support vessel Orient Adventurer.

The firm period will commence in early 2026 and will end in late 2027. Options are also available to extend the charter by up to four years.

Orient Adventurer will work primarily in Europe within the offshore energy industry but is also planned to support operations in other parts of the world. The vessel’s duties will include wind farm operations and maintenance, construction/installation, decommissioning, and inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR).

As part of the charter, DFO plans to open a branch office in Norway in 2025 to facilitate early deployment and ensure the smooth execution of the project from 2026.

The 2014-built Orient Adventurer is the former Polar Onyx, which DFO acquired from Norway’s GC Rieber Shipping in the first quarter of 2022. While still sailing as Polar Onyx, the vessel had been chartered by DeepOcean in 2018.
