GEAR | Teignbridge propulsion system selected for Mayflower autonomous ship

MEPS WEEK

Teignbridge Propellers International has supplied the Mayflower autonomous research ship with a propulsion system to safely propel it on its missions around the world.

The propulsion package for the autonomous vessel includes a custom-designed four-blade Hi Skew propeller. The system is expected to operate properly even under harsh ocean conditions.

Powered by AI and solar energy, Mayflower will spend the next six months conducting sea trials and undertaking a number of research missions before attempting to cross the Atlantic in the spring of 2021.
