GEAR | Eastern Pacific Shipping’s Newcastlemax bulkers to be powered by MAN dual-fuel engines

MAN Energy Solutions has received an order for five 6G70ME-GI Mk 10.5 dual-fuel, two-stroke engines in connection with the construction of five 210,000DWT Newcastlemax bulk carriers for Singapore-based Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS).

The engines are designed to operate on either diesel fuel or LNG. Features include the ability to seamlessly transition between gas operation and diesel operation

The bulk carriers will be chartered by Australian mining company BHP for a period of five years to carry iron ore between Western Australia and China. Delivery is scheduled for 2022.
