Turkey’s Advantage Tankers has ordered two 114,000DWT LR2 product tankers from China’s Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC).
Advantage CEO Tuğrul Tokgöz told Turkish media that the tankers are part of 10-ship newbuilding programme intended to support a 50-strong fleet by 2030.
These two ships bring the company’s reported total orderbook to 22 vessels, alongside 28 tankers currently in operation.
The 10-vessel newbuilding programme comprises two LR2s, two Suezmax tankers, and six MR2 product tankers, all of which be LNG dual-fuel ready.
The LR2 pair will be named Advantage Lucky and Advantage Loft. The former is scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2029, followed by the latter in Q1 2030.
Advantage Tankers’ newbuilding schedule lists both ships as dual fuel-ready Aframax vessels. Both are to be placed on long-term charter to an unnamed major oil.
Advantage Tankers also has two 307,000DWT very large crude carriers under construction at DSIC. Advantage Venture is scheduled for delivery in Q2 2028 while Advantage Voyager is due in Q3 2029.
The company’s earlier Suezmax deliveries include the Japanese-built Advantage Serenity (pictured), which incorporates a range of energy-saving design features.
