Malaysia's Centus Marine welcomes new hybrid crewboat to fleet

Malaysian offshore vessel operator Centus Marine has taken delivery of a new fast crewboat built by Singapore-based Strategic Marine.

The 42-metre Centus Alesha is the second hybrid crewboat to be built by Strategic Marine for the same owner. Both vessels belong to a crewboat series that Strategic Marine introduced in 2023.

Purus christens new battery hybrid CSOV

UK-based Purus has formally named a recently delivered commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) built by Vard at its Romania and Norway facilities.

Purus Chinook was designed by Vard Design in compliance with DNV requirements, including the COMF C2 V1 class notation for climate, noise and vibration. This ensures optimal onboard temperature regulation, reduced noise and vibration throughout the vessel, directly supporting crew welfare and long-term performance.

North Star names first vessel in new hybrid CSOV series

UK operator North Star formally named its newest commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) in a ceremony at Vard Langsten's facilities in Norway on Tuesday, May 6.

Grampian Kestrel is the first in a series of two CSOVs that Vard is building for North Star. Sister vessel Grampian Eagle is meanwhile in the final stages of construction.

Chinese yard launches 3,500-tonne heavy-duty crane vessel

Chinese shipbuilder Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries has floated out a new jackup wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) to be fitted with a 3,500-tonne leg-encircling crane.

Upon completion, Zhengli 3500 will be able to operate in water depths of 70 metres thanks to the installation of four piling legs. A DP2 system and a smaller 350-tonne auxiliary crane will also be fitted.

PowerChina's newest installation jackup to serve first project

Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina) has deployed its newest jackup wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) to serve its first project.

The recently delivered Dianjian Zhiyuan (“Power Construction Zhiyuan”) boasts a variable load capacity of 5,000 tonnes, enabling efficient deep-sea operations and the installation of wind turbines of 16 MW capacity or larger.
