Navigation Maritime Bulgare (Navibulgar) has placed an order four bulk carriers in a series from China’s Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding.

DNV GL will supervise the design and the construction process of the new lake fitted bulk carriers. The design of the new project has been jointly developed by Navibulgar and Shanghai Odely Marine Engineering.

The first vessel of the series will be named Kom and will be the third Navibulgar ship to bear the name.

Each bulk carrier will have an LOA of 190 metres, a beam of 23.7 metres, a summer draught of 10.5 metres, and a deadweight of 31,800 tonnes. There will also be provisions for six cargo holds and three cargo cranes with a cargo lifting capacity of 30 tonnes each.

The laker type construction will allow the vessels to sail in the Great Lakes of North America.
