SAAM takes delivery of two tugs in Chile

SAAM has taken delivery of two ASD Tugs 2411 to assist its operations across South, Central and North America.

The compact vessels can deliver more than 70 tonnes of bollard pull. They measure 24 metres in length, 11 metres wide and have a depth of 5.35 metres.

The two new tugs, named ‘Tordo’ and ‘Mirlo’ after Chilean birds, are now on their way to Valparaiso, Chile.

Once fully commissioned they will begin harbour operations in the port of San Antonio.

The two tugs were built by Daman Shipyards which will also provide crew training and other support duties in Chile.
