Uzmar cuts steel for oil spill recovery tug for KOC

Turkey’s Uzmar Shipyard has cut the first steel for a new offshore support tug for Kuwait Oil Company (KOC).

Uzmar will build the 60-metre vessel to a Robert Allan Ltd design. It will be used to contain, recover, store, and transfer recovered oil from spillages in the Middle East Gulf.

The tug will also be equipped for towing services, area surveillance, offshore firefighting, logistics support duties, and search and rescue (SAR) in the area around Kuwait and in international waters.

Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2020.
