Keel-laying ceremony for ten tugs at Great Lakes Shipyard

A keel-laying ceremony was held at Great Lakes Shipyard in Cleveland, USA for ten Damen Stan Tugs 1907 ICE.

The vessels will be Ice-class and operated by the yard’s affiliate company, the Great Lakes Towing Company, replacing existing tonnage.

The 1907 tugs are 19.34 metres long, 7.34 metres in beam and have a draught of 3.02 metres.

Each will have accommodation for three persons, completely insulated and finished with durable linings, sound absorbing ceiling in the wheelhouse and Bolidt floating floors. Electrical heating is fitted in wheelhouse, galley, cabins and engine room to keep personnel warm whilst operating in cold conditions.
