Robert Allan Ltd, MTU unveil design of LNG-fueled pushboat

Robert Allan Ltd and MTU have developed a new design of shallow-draught pushboat that will run on LNG.

The vessel will have an LOA of 28 metres, a moulded beam of 10.5 metres, a maximum draught of 2.5 metres, and two MTU 8V4000M55R-N Tier III main engines connected to an LNG propulsion system.

MTU will also provide the complete LNG package consisting of an LNG tank system and an integrated ship monitoring, LNG control, and safety systems.

The vessel will accommodate a crew of 14, with the master and chief engineer having single cabins and double cabins for the remainder of the crew.

The pushboat is designed to comply with DNV-GL rules for inland navigation vessels.
