Kirby Inland Marine takes delivery of second towboat in series

Houston-based Kirby Inland Marine has taken delivery of the second in a series of three towboats built by C&C Marine and Repair of Belle Chase, Louisiana.

Designed by CT Marine, the 6,600hp (4,920kW) Bowling Green measures 170 by 50 feet (51 by 15 metres) and is powered by three Cummins QSK60-M engines that are connected to stainless steel propellers via Reintjes WAF 1173 gearboxes. Power for the onboard electrical systems is supplied by a trio of Cummins QSM11-DM generators.

Bowling Green has accommodations for 11 crewmembers plus one passenger and a suspension-mounted superstructure for increased crew comfort during normal operations.
