UAE’s Safeen Group orders multi-role tug from Turkish builder

Safeen Group, the maritime services arm of Abu Dhabi Ports, has placed an order for a new multi-role ASD tug from Turkish builder Med Marine.

The Robert Allan Ltd-designed vessel will be capable of ship handling, coastal towing, general purpose towing, and firefighting. Delivery is scheduled before the end of July 2021.

The tug will have an LOA of 23 metres, a beam of 10.9 metres, a draught of 5.05 metres, Toimil deck crane, a firefighting pump with two foam/water monitors, and accommodations for six crewmembers.

Two Caterpillar 3512 engines that each produce 1,765 kW will deliver a bollard pull of 60 tonnes and a speed of 12 knots.
