Two missing after mooring boat sinks in Pajaritos, Mexico

Two mooring boat crewmembers have gone missing after their vessel sank in the waters of the Mexican port of Pajaritos on Friday, July 17.

Pemex 365 was assisting in the unmooring of the Marshall Islands-flagged Aframax tanker Sea Vine at Pemex’s Pajaritos Oil Terminal when strong currents caused by the propellers of two other nearby tugs pushed the smaller mooring boat along the water until it allided with the pier.

The mooring boat was heavily damaged from the impact that it sank within minutes.

Seven of Pemex 365‘s nine crew were safely rescued shortly after the sinking. However, no trace of the two remaining crew had been found even after a three-day search in the area where the incident occurred.
