Turkish builder to supply tug to Western Australia towage company

Sanmar Shipyards of Turkey has been awarded a contract to deliver a new tug to Mackenzie Marine and Towage, a family-owned operator based in Esperance, Western Australia.

The Robert Allan Ltd-designed tug will measure 24.4 by 12 metres and will be powered by two Caterpillar 3516C 2,100kW main engines once completed. The engines will drive Kongsberg US255 fixed-pitch propellers to deliver a bollard pull of 70 tonnes.

The tug is scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2022.
