Vessel traffic in Chattogram Port in Bangladesh was temporarily halted after two ships collided with each other on the morning of Friday, June 14.

The collision between the outgoing tanker Burgan and the incoming containership X-Press Mahananda occurred at around 08:30 local time and compelled the Chattogram Port Authority to suspend vessel movement in Karnaphuli Channel for up to four hours.

Both vessels sustained slight bow damage and no injuries have been reported, a port official told local reporters.

The two vessels were later moved to drydock with tug escorts.

After two days of repairs, Burgan set sail for its original destination in Kuwait while X-Press Mahananda proceeded to a nearby container terminal to offload cargo.
