Svitzer has been awarded a three-year extension on its marine service contract with GTI Statia, an independent operator of crude and refined product storage terminals serving the US Gulf Coast and Caribbean markets.

Under the contract, Svitzer has been supporting GTI Statia’s operations through the provision of two tugs performing berthing and unberthings for tankers as well as various safety standby services.

This contract is in addition to a separate tug and barge contract that Svitzer holds to support the terminal’s operational needs.

GTI Statia, located on the island of Sint Eustatius (also known as Statia) in the Caribbean, is comprised of 60 commercial tanks with extensive marine infrastructure and a total storage capacity of 14 million barrels that can store various grades of crude and refined petroleum products. Furthermore, the facility handles more than 90 million barrels of products per year.
