Summit Power awards 15-year support vessel contract for Bangladesh LNG terminal

A subsidiary of Singapore’s Summit Power International (SPI) has awarded a 15-year contract to PSA Marine Bangladesh to provide berthing, mooring, pilot and personnel transfer services to LNG ships calling at Summit LNG’s floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) terminal in Bangladesh.

Under the contract, PSA will provide three escort tugs, one fast crew boat and one offshore supply vessel to carry out the work at Moheskhali.

Operations will begin in early 2019.

Summit LNG received a concession in 2017 from state-owned Petrobangla to develop a floating LNG terminal facility on a build, own, operate and transfer basis.

The FSRU is connected to shore by a six-kilometre subsea pipeline, which is expected to supply 14.1 million cubic metres of natural gas a day to the national grid as part of the US$1 billion program to deliver 1,000MW of power and gas in Bangladesh.
