South Port New Zealand has awarded Damen Shipyards Group of the Netherlands a NZ$9.4 million (US$6.8 million) contract for the delivery of a new azimuth tractor tug for operations at Bluff Port.

The 65-tonne bollard pull tug is already built. Upon delivery, it will replace a 35-tonne bollard pull tug that has been in service at the port since 2000.

South Port is expected to take delivery of the tug within 28 weeks’ time.
