Sanmar to build tug pair for UK operator

Sanmar Shipyards of Turkey has been awarded a contract for the construction of two line handling tugs in a series for UK-based Targe Towing.

The Robert Allan Ltd-designed vessels will each have a bollard pull of six tonnes, a speed of 9.5 knots, and capacity for 12 passengers in addition the crew.

The tugs will be brought into service at the Hound Point Marine Terminal on the Firth of Forth. It will provide line handling operations for berthing large crude oil tankers as well as pollution response and crew transport duties.
