Sanmar lays keels of RAL-designed tug pair for Alfons Håkans
Sanmar Shipyards of Turkey has laid the keels of two Robert Allan Ltd (RAL) designed icebreaking tugs ordered by Finland’s Alfons Håkans Group.
The vessels will each have a length of 32 metres and two Caterpillar 3516C main engines that will deliver a bollard pull in excess of 65 tonnes.
The tugs will operate year-round in the Baltic Sea and particularly in the Northern Baltic Sea which is covered with heavy ice during winter.
Delivery is scheduled for late 2020.
