Sanmar delivers first of three 29-metre tugs to Svitzer

Svitzer Sohar

Turkey’s Sanmar Shipyards has delivered the first unit in a series of three tugs ordered by Svitzer for operations at the Port of Sohar in Oman under a 15-year contract.

Svitzer Sohar is one of a total five tugs ordered by Svitzer from Sanmar specifically for operations at the Port of Sohar. It has a length of 29.4 metres, a moulded beam of 13.3 metres, a maximum draught of six metres, and two Caterpillar 3516C 2,525kW engines that deliver a bollard pull in excess of 80 tonnes.

The other two tugs in the same series are scheduled to be delivered to Svitzer at the Port of Sohar shortly after the third unit completes sea trials later this month.
