Saam Towage’s operations in El Salvador will be further expanded in the coming weeks following the arrival of two newbuild escort and firefighting tugs from Turkey.

Designed by Robert Allan Ltd and built by Uzmar Shipyard, Saam Acaxual (pictured) and Saam Centzunat will provide services at the Energía del Pacífico (EDP) LNG terminal at the Port of Acajutla.

The tugs each have a length of 32 metres, Fifi1 equipment, and two Caterpillar 3516C 2,350kW engines that drive a pair of Kongsberg US255 fixed-pitch azimuth thrusters to deliver a bollard pull of more than 80 tonnes and a speed of 13.5 knots.
