Saam Peru begins operating second Turkish-built tug

NAVAL ARCHITECTURE WEEK

Saam Towage has begun operating the second of two newbuild tugs slated for its activities out of the Peruvian port of Callao.

Designed by Robert Allan Ltd and built by Turkey’s Sanmar Shipyards, RAM Albatros recently completed its 46-day delivery voyage across the Atlantic.

The 24.4- by 11.25-metre tug is powered by two 2,100kW engines that deliver a bollard pull of 70 tonnes and a maximum speed of 13 knots. It is also equipped with a main engine-driven firefighting pump.

RAM Albatros has joined sister vessel RAM Valkyria in serving Saam’s clients in and around Callao.
