Saam adds tug to Panama towage operations

MEPS WEEK

Saam Towage has taken delivery of a new tug from Sanmar Shipyards of Turkey.

The Robert Allan Ltd-designed Saam Palenque will operate in Panama alongside near-identical sister Saam Valparaiso, which was delivered in 2020.

The 24-metre Saam Palenque has FiFi1 equipment and two Caterpillar 3516C 2,100kW main engines that deliver a bollard pull of 72 tonnes and a maximum speed of 12.5 knots. Accommodation spaces include cabins for six crewmembers, a mess/lounge, a galley, two toilets with showers, and a laundry room.

The tug was formerly operated by Sanmar for its own towage operations in Izmir, Turkey.
