Retrofit tug returns to service with Boluda Towage Europe

Boluda Towage Europe's tug Union Koala has been reintroduced into service following a retrofit programme to make the vessel officially certified as IMO Tier III-compliant.

The converted tug has been fitted with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system and was welcomed back into service in Zeebrugge, Belgium, on Friday, January 10.

This makes Boluda the first towage company in Europe to convert an existing tug to ensure compliance with IMO Tier III emissions standards.
