Quebec shipbuilder Ocean Industries has been awarded a C$102 million (US$76 million) Canadian Defence Ministry contract for the construction of four new towing and firefighting tugs for the Royal Canadian Navy.

The first two tugs are scheduled to be delivered in 2021 while the remaining pair will be handed over in 2023.

The vessels will replace five Glen-class large tugs and two Fire-class rescue boats that have been in service with the navy since 1975 and 1978, respectively.
