Russia’s Onego Shipyard has delivered a new ice-class ASD tug to the Arkhangelsk branch office of local port operator Rosmorport.

Pomor was built to also perform icebreaking assistance, pilot transfers, and search and rescue duties in addition to its primary roles of towing and escort.

The tug has a length of 33.7 metres, a beam of 12.5 metres, a full load draught of just under 5.7 metres, and space for eight crewmembers and two other personnel. The engines deliver a bollard pull of 45 tonnes and a speed of 12 knots.

Design work on the new tug was provided by Damen Shipyards Gorinchem in the Netherlands in compliance to Russian Maritime Register of Shipping rules.
