Med Marine delivers new ASD tug for Arpas Towage

Med Marine has delivered its Eregli 52 project tug to Arpas Pilotage and Towage in Turkey.

Classed by RINA, the Robert Allan Ltd-designed ASD tug measures 25.3 metres by 12 metresand has a depth of 4.6 metres.

An identical sister, Med Yarımca, was delivered to Med Marine’s national fleet in November.

Two Caterpillar diesel engines develop a total output of 4,200kW, with a sailing speed of 12 knots and bollard pull of 73 tonnes.

The engines drive two Schottel SRP1515 azimuthing thrusters with controllable pitch propellers of 2,600mm diameter.

Two Caterpillar ship service gensets also provide total 172ekW electrical power for vessel services, including the deck machinery.

The tug also has a fire-fighting pump and two electrically-controlled monitors that can deliver 1,200 cubic metres per hour each for the tug’s FiFi 1 system.
