New York-based McAllister Towing has placed an order for two new tractor tugs to expand its ship assist capability in ports along the US East Coast.

The tugs will be built by Washburn and Doughty Associates of East Boothbay, Maine. Each will have a length of 92.8 feet (28.3 metres), a beam of 38 feet (11.6 metres), and two Caterpillar EPA Tier IV-compliant main engines that will deliver a bollard pull of 92 tons (84 tonnes).

The tugs are scheduled for delivery by early 2023. McAllister also has options to order an additional two tugs from the same series for delivery in 2023 and 2024.
