Marco Polo Marine expands into ship recycling

Singapore-based vessel operator and shipbuilder Marco Polo Marine, through Indonesian subsidiary Marcopolo Shipyard, has ventured into the ship recycling industry following the awarding of the necessary permits by local authorities.

Marcopolo’s facilities in Batam now have expanded services that include ship recycling in addition to ship repair/maintenance and shipbuilding.

ABS Quality Evaluations has also awarded the recycling facility an ISO 30000:2009 certification, indicating its compliance with the new EU Regulation on Ship Recycling and the IMO Hong Kong Convention.
