Keels laid for Svitzer’s two new icebreaking tugs

Med Marine held a keel-laying ceremony for two new icebreaking ASD tugs in a series on Thursday, April 16.

The Robert Allan Ltd-designed vessels were ordered by Svitzer and are slated for operations in Scandinavia, predominantly in ports in Sweden and Denmark.

Each tug will have an LOA of 30 metres, a beam of 12.6 metres, a maximum draught of 5.6 metres, total installed power of approximately 3,900 kW, and a bollard pull of 60 tonnes.
