Jamaica’s Ocean Group orders tug from Turkish builder

Jamaican marine services company Ocean Group has placed an order for a new ASD tug to be supplied by Turkish shipbuilder Med Marine.

The Robert Allan Ltd-designed tug will have an LOA of 25.2 metres, a beam of 12 metres, and a Caterpillar 3516C main engine that will deliver a bollard pull of 75 tonnes and a speed of 12 knots. Accommodations will be available for seven crewmembers.

The tug is scheduled to be delivered in the middle of December 2021. Once in service, it will perform ship handling, coastal towing, and other general purpose towing duties out of the Port of Kingston.
