Tripmare, a towage operator headquartered in the northern Italian port city of Trieste, has taken delivery of a new ship handling and escort tug from Sanmar Shipyards of Turkey.

The Robert Allan Ltd-designed Eitan joins two other Sanmar-built tugs in the Tripmare fleet. All three tugs are being operated by Tripmare at the Port of Ashdod 40 kilometres south of Tel Aviv, Israel.

The 30.25-metre Eitan is powered by two Caterpillar 3516C engines each rated 2,525 kW at 1,800 rpm, enabling the tug to achieve speeds of up to 13.25 knots and a bollard pull of 73.5 tonnes.

The tug also has accommodations for up to six crewmembers and firefighting equipment consisting of a pump and a foam monitor.
