Hong Kong-based Yiu Lian Dockyards is set to expand its fleet with two new escort and firefighting tugs in a series built by a local company.

Designed by Robert Allan Ltd and classed by Lloyd’s Register, sister vessels Hai Kun (pictured) and Hai Peng each have an LOA of 32 metres, a moulded beam of 12.8 metres, two Niigata 8L28AHX 2,574kW main engines, and FiFi1 equipment including a water spray rated at 2,400 cubic metres per hour.

The tugs’ accommodations are outfitted to MLC-compliant standards for a crew of up to 10 personnel. The master’s and chief engineer’s cabins are each outfitted with private en suite washrooms, while one common washroom is located on each of the main and lower decks along with the remainder of the cabins.

Hai Kun has already begun sailing with Yiu Lian while Hai Peng is scheduled to be delivered later this month.
