First steel cut for new tug for China’s Qingdao Port

China’s Rizhao Gangda Shipbuilding Heavy Industry has cut the first steel for a new ASD harbour tug ordered by local operator Shandong Ports Authority.

The Robert Allan Ltd-designed vessel will have an LOA of 34.3 metres, a moulded beam of 11.2 metres, a maximum draught of 4.61 metres, a bollard pull of 50 tonnes, and a free running speed of 13 knots.

The tug will be operated in the Yellow Sea out of the Port of Qingdao in Shandong province.
