Fairplay Towage to begin serving Spanish market with Canary Islands operations

Fairplay Towage Group has been awarded a licence to operate harbour tugs in the Port of Las Palmas in the Canary Islands, thus making the company’s services available in Spanish waters for the first time.

Fairplay’s operations out of Las Palmas will utilise four tugs sailing under the Spanish flag and crewed by Spanish sailors.

The company said the local government is still reviewing licences for operations in nearby waters in Lanzarote, Tenerife, and Fuerteventura.

Fairplay’s activities in the area are handled by Spanish outfit Odiel Towage, which is located in Las Palmas and is also coordinating local harbour towage operations.
