Eastern Shipbuilding launches new escort/rescue tug for McAllister Towing

Eastern Shipbuilding launched the escort/rescue tug Ava M. McAllister on Friday, December 7.

The vessel is scheduled for delivery to McAllister Towing and Transportation Company in the second quarter of 2019.

Ava M. McAllister measures 30.48 by 12.19 metres and will be powered by twin Caterpillar 3516E 2,524kW Tier 4 diesel engines.

It is the third in a series of four tugs ordered by McAllister Towing. The first tug, Capt. Brian McAllister, was built by Horizon Shipbuilding and delivered in the summer of 2017 while the Eastern-built Rosemary McAllister was delivered earlier this year.

The fourth tug, Capt Jim McAllister, is still under construction at Eastern.
