Astrakhan launches Project 22870 rescue tug

United Shipbuilding Corporation’s (USC) Astrakhan Ship Repair Plant has launched the sixth Project 22870 rescue tug that the company is building for the Russian Navy.

Named SB-742, the Vympel-designed vessel could also carry out firefighting, dive support, oil spill recovery, and survey duties.

The tug has a length of 57 metres, a beam of 14 metres, a displacement of 1,000 tonnes, and a speed of 14 knots.
