Vittoria Shipyard delivers tug to Algerian port authority

Vittoria Shipyard has delivered the tug C.869 to the port authority in Skikda, Algeria.

The tug was ordered in December 2016 by the Algerian Transport Ministry at a cost of €7 million (US$8 million).

The vessel has an overall length of 26 metres, width of 10 metres, draught of 3.80 metres and displaces 500 tonnes fully laden. She has a bollard pull of 42 tonnes thanks to two ASD azimuth thrusters driven by two semi-fast diesel engines that can develop a total of 2,460kW and give a top speed of 12.5 knots.

The vessel has living quarters and services for a crew of seven and has been classified by Bureau Veritas.

Following the delivery of the tug to Algeria, Vittoria will focus on a workboat for the Russian Navy designed to support work dismantling irradiated nuclear submarines.
