Abu Dhabi Ports accepts delivery of new tugs

Abu Dhabi Ports has welcomed the delivery of Al Jimi 1 from Turkey’s Sanmar Shipyards.

Under management of Abu Dhabi Ports’ Marine Services arm Safeen, the Yenicay-class tugs will service Musaffah Port and Zayed Port.

Designed by Robert Allan Ltd, Al Jimi 1 already has two sister vessels, named Al Shaheed and Al Hili 1.

The 18.7-metre by 9.2-metre Yenicay tugs are of ASD configuration. They use Caterpillar engines with each developing 969kW at 1,800rpm. These drive Veth azimuthing stern thrusters.

On sea trials, Yenicay VII attained a bollard pull of 32 tonnes and a speed of 12 knots.
