From Baird Maritime:
The sub-title really says it all. President Theodore Roosevelt was, just as much as the naval intellectual Alfred T. Mahan, a prime mover behind what became the world's most powerful navy.
Still, apparently, a serving naval officer, Commander Hendrix has earned a PhD from King's College, London. He is a very thorough researcher who presents his material very stylishly.
His thesis and conclusions are difficult to argue with. He brings all the strands of history together and emphasises the importance of Panama.
Roosevelt was a great booster and promoter of the Navy and the Panama Canal. In its turn, the Navy responded well to his challenges. The result was very good for America. Hendrix explains this very clearly.
