Counterintuitive and even a little subversive, this very thought-provoking little book strongly urges United States leaders to change from their current doctrine of "Counter insurgency by nation building".
Given conventional American wisdom this is a very courageous approach. From the dismal results of the last decade's activities in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is obvious that the current doctrine requires major revision.
The authors, a Naval Postgraduate School professor and a pair of Special Forces officers know very well what they have written about. The ideas they propound are good. They are well worth taking on board.
