Svitzer starts operating new hull-cleaning ROV

Svitzer has begun operating a new type of hull-cleaning remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to support its activities in Panama.

Svitzer said the ROV can operate in harsh conditions and can clean up to 1,200 square metres in one hour. It also utilises brushless waterjet technology with real-time water pressure adjustment to reduce the risk of damage to anti-fouling coating on ships’ hulls.

The company confirmed its plan to expand this new hull-cleaning service to other global ports.
