Ocean Infinity to launch 15-vessel AUV fleet under new company

Ocean Infinity has launched Armada, a new marine technology and data company specialising in the operation of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs).

The new company is set to add 15 bespoke AUVs to Ocean Infinity’s current fleet of unmanned survey vessels. Armada’s fleet of AUVs will be controlled and operated via satellite communications from dedicated onshore facilities in both Austin, Texas, and Southampton, England, hence eliminating the need for nearby host vessels.

The AUVs are currently under construction and are expected to be deployed beginning in late 2020.
