Fugro wraps up USV remote inspection for Woodside

Fugro has completed using one of its unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) for an entirely remote near-shore inspection of three gas trunklines in the North West of Australia for the Woodside-operated North West Shelf Project.
The remote inspection was the first to be completed by the 12-metre Fugro Maali.
The scope comprised a multi-beam survey, visual inspection and cathodic protection assessment of the gas trucklines to comply with Woodside and regulatory requirements.
Fitted with an electric remotely operated vehicle (ROV), the USV was controlled from the Woodside-operated King Bay Supply Facility and Fugro’s ROC in Perth, approximately 1,500 kilometres south of the Woodside trunklines.
During the one-month project, Fugro’s remote operations team navigated approximately 2,400 kilometres in the surrounds of Dampier Port.
