A team of Russian engineers will develop a concept and build a multi-purpose composite autonomous surface vehicle (ASV) equipped to collect and transmit various marine data.
The ASV project will be developed by InProject in conjunction with the Astrakhan State Technical University’s Institute of Marine Technologies of Energy and Transport. The vessel will be driven by hybrid propulsion including one rigid wing sail.
For accurate positioning, the ASV will be equipped with Azipod systems and will have brushless electric motor coupled with solar panels and wind generators for charging batteries and Azipod system. The systems will ensure stability of the ASV on the surface.
The ASV concept includes sensors and necessary equipment installation in the hull. The underwater part of the hull will be outfitted for the fastening and towing of different research equipment. The vessel will have a sluice with a lifting and lowering part for work on the seabed or above to gather samples of sea floor sediment.
The ASV’s hull will also have a cargo tank for the transport of scientific equipment or small amounts of cargo, including rescue equipment for ships and crews during salvage operations.
